Red Jasper and Freshwater Pearl Necklace

Natural freshwater pearls are cultured by the fish farmers in China. Mainly hosted by mussel shells the farmers take small pieces of live tissue from one shell and insert it into another where it continues to grow until the fishermen harvest the crop. Natural freshwater pearls come in various shapes and sizes.
I have designed this necklace using strong, rich, opaque red, genuine jasper gemstone tube beads, and spaced them with rice shaped white freshwater pearls. The necklace measures 46cm (18") long, and I have added a gold plated "nickel free" clasp and extension chain, to comply with EU directives.
