Freshwater Pearls are cultured by the fishermen in China. They cultivate the pearls by placing small pieces of live tissue into Mussel shells where they continue to grow. Once harvested the pearls have adopted the colour of the inside of the shell they have grown in.
I have made this necklace with rice shaped freshwater pearls that are naturally brown and not dyed. Each pearl measures 4mm wide and the necklace measures 44cm (17.5") long.
I have added a gold plated "Nickel Free" clasp and the extension chain to comply with EU regulations.
