Translucent Yellow Peruvian Opal Necklace

I have constructed this necklace in a most classic way as I feel that it is perfect and natural the way it is. Using non-opalising opals from Peru which have been sealed with a coating of resin. In their natural state they contain between 2 and 6% water and would dry out and break if worn in the sunshine for too long. Nowadays they should be stored in a cool place when not being worn. However wearing them against the skin or in a humid atmosphere allows the stones to retain their moisture and natural colour too, without the fear of them losing colour or breaking.
The necklace measures 19" (48cm) long, and I have added a gold plated "nickel free" clasp and extension chain to comply with EU directives.
Opal is the birthsone for Libra September 23rd to October 22nd.
